Freeze Warnings and Snow in Florida
In Florida we typically see atmospheric moisture ahead of cold fronts that bring some rain before the cooler temperatures settle in. But two rounds of arctic air, known as a double cold front, bring the possibility of another type of precipitation to the south-east United States: snow. Sandwiched between the two cold air masses is a patch of precipitable water that could fall as mixed precipitation, or even snow, to some areas in Florida’s panhandle, Georgia and Alabama on Sunday, Jan. 18. Most regions, like North Central Florida, will just see showers.

Snow has officially fallen in Florida on Sunday morning, with flurries starting to dust the ground just before 8 a.m. Eastern time in the Florida Panhandle. Freeze warning is in effect for much of Florida for Monday morning.
