In recent years Haines City has seen explosive growth, largely because of its easy access to Orlando and Walt Disney World. New residential areas have been developed on the edges of the city. In the last 20 years, the population in Haines City has doubled. Haines City is 6 miles south of I-4 which takes you west to Tampa or east to Orlando.
